Schmitt out for season

Andy Schmitt (7) throws during the second quarter of Eastern Michigan’s game at Michigan on Saturday. He left the game in the fourth quarter with what ended up being a season-ending knee injury.

Eastern Michigan quarterback Andy Schmitt has been ruled out for the season because of a torn ACL in his right knee, as announced in a university release today.

The fifth-year senior was injured during the fourth quarter of his team’s loss to Michigan on Saturday at Michigan Stadium.

“It is always disappointing news when you lose a player to injury,” coach Ron English said in the release. “Andy Schmitt is and will continue to be a great leader and tremendous part of what we are doing offensively.”
