During the upcoming Nov. 10 football game against Central Michigan University, the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County is teaming up with Eastern Michigan University’s football team in a text-to-donate program, which will allow free entry into the game.

By texting “HOME” to 20222 (messaging and data rates may apply), you will donate $10 to the Shelter Association, a program dedicated to ending homelessness in the county. Participants will receive a confirmation message on their phone that will show the Shelter Association’s booth set up at the Convocation Center, where one must go in order to receive a free ticket to the game.

The Shelter Association is located at the Robert J. Delonis Center in downtown Ann Arbor and is open 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.

In Washtenaw County there are 42,000 people who live in poverty or near the poverty level, according to the Shelter Association. Each year, the association serves around 21,000 adults, nearly half of the people who are homeless in the county.

The Shelter Association’s numerous programs help individuals find jobs and affordable housing.
Over 30 organizations team up with the Shelter Association in order for the programs and services to be available.
