Julia Niswender death confirmed as homicide

Julia Niswender was found dead in her apartment Dec. 11. The 23-year-old’s cause of death was found to be asphyxiation associated with drowning.

Eastern Michigan University student Julia Niswender’s death has been ruled a homicide, according to the Ypsilanti Police Department.

Niswender was found dead in her apartment Dec. 11. The medical examiner’s final autopsy report has confirmed her death was a homicide, but toxicology results have yielded no conclusive information.

A news release said while the police department recognizes and understands the public’s interest in the investigation, a suspect has not been identified and the Ypsilanti Police detectives, Michigan State Police and Federal agencies are continuing to investigate all possible sources of information.
