There’s just something about Ypsilanti in the summertime that brings a new energy to everyone that’s just contagious. For those new to this little city of culture and Eastern Michigan University, welcome to adventureland!.Vintage shops, concerts, car shows and if you’re lucky you got some good eating in between.
Here are some awesome local spots to kick start the summertime fun and relaxation.
Putterz Golf & Games, located at 2675 Washtenaw Avenue, is pure entertainment for family or a group of friends. Open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-11 p.m. and Sundays noon to 10 p.m., Putterz features outdoor 18-hole mini golf courses, batting cages, arcade games and a snack bar.
Rolling Hills Water Park, 7660 Stony Creek Road, Ypsilanti, is perfect for those scorching days when you want to take a relaxing dip in a pool or come tumbling down a water slide. Woodruff’s Bar at 36 E. Cross Street, Ypsilanti is a fun spot in Depot Town to find great music from regional and local bands, great food, entertaining gatherings like Bitchy Bingo Brunch hosted by drag performers Chanel Hunter and Jadein Black and open mic nights.
Beezy’s Café is a quaint and cozy restaurant that thrives off giving their customers “simple, honest food” that’s affordable and a memorable experience. The giant blackboard menu highlights many quality made meals from a delicious vanilla custard French toast, BBQ bacon chicken sandwich salad, and a cranberry bleu cheese salad that are all affordable as well as tasty. Beezy’s is located at 20 N. Washington Street in downtown Ypsilanti and is open Monday through Saturday 7 a.m.-4
p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Also, Elvis Presley is coming to Ypsilanti. The 14th Annual Michigan ElvisFest will pay tribute to the legendary King of Rock & Roll on July 12 (4 p.m. to midnight) and 13th (12 p.m. to midnight) in Riverside Park, located on 5 W. Cross St. For two days, there will be award winning Elvis tribute artists who will perform many of his classic hits as well as pay tribute to Paul McCartney, The Blues Brothers and more.
