02414 -- Scott Stephenson Eastern Echo Scholarship:  This expendable scholarship is for the benefit of student(s) in the School of Communication, Media & Theater Arts in the College of Arts & Sciences.  It will be awarded to a full or part-time junior or senior EMU student majoring in journalism and working for the Eastern Echo.  The student should be working to self-finance their education and not be eligible for need-based grants.

00825 -- Student Media Development:  Provides support for the Student Media program.

Increasing Intolerance on American Campuses Speaker—

Cary Nelson, jubilee professor of liberal arts and sciences at the University of Illinois, will present a lecture titled “Bait and Switch: The Purpose of the Movement to Boycott Israel” on Monday, March 24 at 7 p.m.

The event will take place at Eastern Michigan University’s Student Center. It is free and open to the public.

Upcoming Board of Regents Meeting Schedule—

The Board of Regents will hold a meeting on Tuesday, March 25 at 1:30 p.m. in room 201 of Welch Hall at Eastern Michigan University. There will also be committee meetings held throughout the day in Welch Hall. The schedule for these meetings is listed below:

Athletic Affairs: 8:30-9:15 a.m., room 201

Educational Policies: 8:30-9:15 a.m., room 205

Faculty Affairs: 9:30-10:15 a.m., room 205

Student Affairs: 10:30-11:15 a.m., room 205

Finance and Investment: 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., room 201

Center for the Study of Equality and Human Rights Proposals—

Eastern Michigan University’s Center for the Study of Equality and Human Rights is looking for proposals for contribution in the Center’s Equality Knowledge Project. The project seeks proposals for academic research with the focus on the LGBT community.

Incarcerated Women and their Children—

Eastern Michigan University’s women’s and gender studies department is presenting a workshop titled “Prison of Silence: The Invisibility of Incarcerated Women and their Children.”

The workshop will take place on Thursday, March 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in room 300 of Halle Library on campus. For more information, contact Barbara Walters at 734-487-0393 or email bwalter5@emich.edu.

Students for Life 2014 Activism and Training Conference—

Eastern Michigan University Student for Life group will host the Activism and Training Conference on Saturday, March 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. in room 301A in the Student Center on campus.

The conference will allow people to speak with pro-life leaders, the Alliance Defending Freedom group and view the pro-life film, “Crescendo.”

The cost of the conference is $15. To sign up for the event, go to the following website.

Business of the Year Awards—

To honor Michigan’s top businesses, the Business of the Year Luncheon will be held on Friday, March 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Student Center Ballroom at Eastern Michigan University.
