The all-day, all-you-can-eat Backyard BBQ event took place Wednesday outside the Eastern Eateries from noon to 6 p.m. The BBQ could be purchased with a meal plan, flex plan or $7.50 cash.
There were hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwursts, chips, pop, snow cones and other foods. Picnic tables were set up outside, with a DJ and games to play.
Lisa Sexton, a junior social work major at Eastern was in charge of the games.
“This event is tons of fun,” Sexton said.
Beach ball shuffle and the water balloon toss are the only games where the winners get a TruEMU t-shirt and the participants each received a swag bag with sunglasses and a shirt.
“The beach ball shuffle was fun and kind of challenging,” said Langston Dillardsmith, an Eastern freshmen after his team celebrated a beach ball shuffle victory.
Other games like the football toss and ring toss were open to anyone at the event.
“This is a cool break from classes,” said EMU sophomore Eerick Todd.
