Approximately 100 students walked around Eastern Michigan University's campus to show solidarity with the University of Missouri Thursday afternoon.
Geoff Larcom, executive director of media relations at EMU, said the university supports its students speaking out in an Eastern manner.
The students declined to comment.
The protests have occurred following the University of Missouri’s protest concerning the university’s failure to address the racial inequality and social issues at their school. Graduate Jonathan Butler started his hunger strike on Nov. 2, demanding that Tim Wolfe, the University of Missouri System president resign. The hunger strike ended on Nov. 9 when Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin and Wolfe resigned, sparking the #ConcernedStudent1950 movement.
