The United Way of Washtenaw County hosts its very own season campaign just for Eastern Michigan University every year. This unique campaign gives us a chance to give back to the community of Ypsilanti.
The money can help out locally through one of the many different organizations United Way is partnered with. You can donate to this campaign anytime between now and Dec. 11.
United Way is very much involved in helping out the community and EMU. United Way funds Food Gatherers and this organization has donated food to Swoop’s Food Pantry. Swoop’s Food Pantry is available to Eastern Michigan University students in the basement of Marshall.
Brialle Ringer, student campaign assistant at United Way and EMU student, says her “favorite thing about the EMU United Way Campaign is it's an opportunity for Eastern to connect with and support the broader community of Washtenaw County. Swoops Food Pantry at EMU receives food donations from Food Gatherers, which is a United Way funded agency.”
EMU faculty and students can donate to the United Way campaign many different ways.
Log on to my.emich.edu and click the United Way logo on the top left corner. You can also donate by contacting the EMU specific Mobile Cause page by texting emuuw to 41444. Email bringer@emich.edu or kdobsoni@emich.edu with your phone number and they will contact you to enter your pledge, or deliver you a paper pledge form to be filled out by you and delivered to 207 Welch Hall.
Volunteer opportunities are available and appreciated as well. You can volunteer with one of United Way's partnership opportunities. Visit this website to find the many ways you can get connected locally: http://www.volunteerwashtenaw.org/. Volunteers who let United Way know they are volunteering will be featured on social media.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this campaign or United Way, you can contact Brialle Ringer at (734) 487-1293 or email her at bringer@emich.edu.
