The EMU Green Club is hosting Gathering Resources to Educate about our Environment and Nature Week March 21–26. Each day environmental friendly events will be held on campus to help promote the awareness of “going green” and help inform students about current environmental issues.
GREEN Club has been around on campus for 12 years now and this year the club is focused on highlighting its own members’ interests and passion throughout GREEN Week. An example of how this is being done was given by Megan Robeson, GREEN Club president and head of GREEN Week planning.
“Katie, who makes her own beauty products, is holding an event about green hygiene products,” said Robeson.
Robeson said GREEN Week “is important for students to attend because it’s important for citizens of the planet to look at their lifestyles and reflect on the environmental impacts they are making.” Along with this in mind, she also said that GREEN will be showing students how they can help reduce their carbon footprint throughout their daily life on campus.
Giving Garden Thursday will allow students the opportunity to start planting seeds while getting information about the Giving Garden. The event is from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the EMU Green House.
Recycling Friday will include a tour of the Ann Arbor recycling plant. Those interested should meet at the Student Center Art Gallery for the carpool. The event is from 12 to 1:30 p.m.
Green Week ends with Volunteering Saturday. Volunteers will be removing invasive species. Anyone interested in volunteering should meet at the Student Center Art Gallery for carpool. The event is from 1 to 4 p.m.
