On Friday, September 16th, the EMU Student Center premiered Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising.
With the major success of the first Neighbors movie ringing in over $49 million within opening weekend, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising had a lot of high expectations.
"I saw the first one and loved it. I was laughing out loud the entire time, so I have super high expectations for the sequel," said Lily Chan.
The basis of the sequel is that the old president of the fraternity Delta Psi, Teddy Sanders (Zac Efron), decides to help a group of young college girls, Shelby (Chloë Grace Moretz), Beth (Kiersey lemons), and Nora (Beanie Feldstein), start a new sorority, Kappa Nu. The main goal of Kappa Nu is to be the first sorority that can party. Kappa Nu buys Delta Psi’s old house which is located next door to Mac and Kelly Radner (Seth Rogan and Rose Byrne). Mac and Kelly are in the middle of selling their house when they encounter their old nemesis from the first installment along with the partying sorority.
Mac and Kelly, who are in the middle of escrow, are in a battle against the sorority and Teddy to keep them from partying too hard until their house is out of escrow and is deemed officially sold. At some point the plot seemed a bit forced and kind of thrown together, but the constant inflow of jokes and puns made it easier to overlook the over worked plot. Throughout the constant battle of tug o war there were a tremendous amount of jokes that kept the audience laughing. This film is not recommended for a family because the majority of the jokes are about sex or drugs. However this film is perfect for a room full of college students looking to have a laugh.
“I loved the sequel! It made me so happy to watch,” said Lily Chan, EMU student.
