A group of Eastern Michigan University students, alumni, faculty, authorities and administration rallied together on Thursday, Oct. 6.
The demonstration was organized by EMU student Desmine Robinson in response to the racist hate speech painted on the wall of King Hall and written in the stairwell of Wise Hall, three weeks ago.
People of all different racial backgrounds marched in support of the message of unity.
They marched from the northeast side of campus to the the southwest side. Along the way they held signs and played uplifting music. The participants in the march ended by congregating at the scene of the first incident of racist hate speech, King Hall. Once there, students, alumni, faculty, authorities and administration stood in solidarity.
“Let this march show that not only is EMU diverse, we are also inclusive,” said Desmine Robinson, EMU student and organizer of the march.
The King Hall case and Wise Hall case are under investigation. To report any information contact EMU Public Safety.
