The Eastern Michigan softball team ended its series finale, losing 9-0, to the University of Akron at Varsity Field, Sunday, April 2.

The Eagles fell 13-17 on the season and 2-4 in Mid-American Conference play. Eastern was a no-hit for the first time since 2014 .

Eastern used three hurlers in the game as junior Trisha Trujillo , sophomore Nicolle Miranda and senior Abbie Minsker entered the circle. Trujillo was the starting pitcher while Miranda and Minsker both closed out the game.

During the game, Akron plated two runs on a base-clearing double in the opening frame. A double and a walk put two on with one out for Akron’s Kelly Hysong. Hysong ripped a double off the wall in center to put Akron in front, 2-0. Later, there was an early switch in the circle for EMU as Miranda entered in relief and rescued EMU out of the hold.

Akron pushed its lead to 6-0 in the second after getting four runs behind an RBI single and three-run home run.

During the fifth, Akron lead increased to 7-0 after a solo shot and then got another homer in the seventh, making the score 9-0, taking the series 2-1 and concluding the game.

On Tuesday, April 4, Eastern Michigan's softball team will travel to the University of Toledo for the MAC West clash with the Rockets. First pitch is set for 1p.m.
