On this Valentine’s Day the Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team played Central Michigan University. The Eagles were looking to avenge the Jan. 11 60-56 loss they suffered at the Convocation Center, but the Eagles lost again, falling 55-52 to the Chippewas.

The Chippewas got off to an early 6-1 lead and never looked back from there.

The leading scorer for the Eagles was sophomore guard Derek Thompson, who finished the game with 18 points and two rebounds. Thompson went six-for-nine from the field. Jamell Harris finished with ten points and seven rebounds. Darrell Lampley and Austin Harper both finished the game with six points.

For Central Michigan, sophomore Trey Zeigler finished the game with 11 points, nine rebounds and led the game with four blocks. Austin McBroom led the Chippewas in scoring with 14 points.

Eastern is now 11-15 (6-6 MAC) and will suit up next against Green Bay Wisconsin at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Resch Center.
