Eastern Michigan University’s College of Business dean, David Mielke, announced today he plans to step down and return to the faculty at the end of the 2011-12 academic year, according to university officials.

Mielke has served as dean since 2004 and previously served as a professor of accounting at Grand Valley State University as well as dean of the Seidman School of Business at Grand Valley.

In a statement, EMU President Susan Martin said Mielke has provided “exceptional leadership and vision” for the COB over the course of the past seven years.

“I look forward to working with him in his role as dean during the upcoming year, and we will conduct a national search for his replacement,” Martin said.
