Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and Howard Schmidt, cyber-security coordinator of the Obama Administration, will be kicking off National Cybersecurity Awareness Month at Eastern Michigan University this Friday, Oct. 7. Schmidt announced the event on his White House blog.

Walter Kraft, EMU’s Vice President of Communications, confirmed the event, but said the university is still working out the details.

In the upcoming weeks, the Department of Homeland Security will be hosting events across the nation to bring cybersecurity awareness to various communities and states, Schmidt said.
