An update from the IT department:

At this point, Merit and the storage vendor are taking the approach of making sure data protection—the prevention of loss of email data—takes precedence over email system availability.

Based on that approach, they are currently estimating that Eaglemail will remain unavailable through 5 p.m. today, but should be available sometime during the evening hours.

Initial Update:

On the first day of classes,EagleMail is currently unavailable due to a hardware failure.

An IT announcement said the service provider that provides EagleMail is working with the hardware vendor to replace the failed component.
