Football talk, rust?Eastern hasn't played football since Nov. 1. That's 21 days, but who's counting? I'm not sure if I've ever seen a football team with such a big layoff. The Eagles will play at Temple on Saturday, and coach Jeff Genyk is a bit worried about being "rusty." "That’s certainly our concern," Genyk said. "We’ve really tried to continue to keep the intensity by practicing the first-string offense versus the first-string defense, but it’s really hard to replicate game speed – especially on special teams. »

Books are an important part of our society and have been since their beginning. They are useful for both educational and entertainment purposes, and these two functions can coexist harmoniously.
In our era, books have become a format that is not respected and almost solely used in education.
Reading has been exchanged for watching television and movies, playing video games and spending countless hours staring at a computer screen. Although learning is possible through all of these, it is almost never an intention of each aforementioned action.
The reasons that books have recently waned in popularity are obvious and all are important.
Books take a large amount of time to read. People like things to happen quickly in our age, so they cling to video games and television, which can be concluded with haste and also with closure if that is the desire.
The lack of visual appeal also hinders the book’s esteem. Staring at the same black print for hours does not delight the eyes like watching sports on television or observing a thrilling action movie.
The one place where books still have a position of prominence is in education. Since they are most often seen in schools, people will connect that location with that object, and thus will not want to have books in their lives away from school.
The majority of books are not understood by most people. Writers contain so many ideas in their work and often use such complicated wording that not everybody will attempt to understand it and find their time wasted.
The quintessential reason that people read less today than previous generations is laziness.
Laziness is what keeps people from opening a book. Laziness is what causes people to spend hours online or playing video games instead. These pursuits alone are not condemnable, but they are if used as a replacement of reading.
The benefits of reading as a mode of entertainment are incredible and numerous.
It is very rewarding to contemplate the ideas of a writer, who has usually done extensive research and is willing to pass on the knowledge that he or she has acquired.
A book is also a story that allows all of the creative imagery to be a construction of the reader, not the maker of the story like in films and television.
The productions of the mind are superior to the images of a film because it is not restricted by technology. The mind can conceive of images for all events and all characters with exquisite ease.
Society has been altered to where few value these advantages. People would rather witness the simulation of another’s mental constructs than create their own.
Our generation is plagued by fallacious conduct, but the most inexcusable is the declining interest in reading. Books are written for all subjects and all people, but are not utilized to their greatest extent.
The only likely way for our world to increase its intelligence and consciousness is by simply replacing mind-dulling modes of entertainment with a good book.
