EMU DPS moves into new headquarters
Eastern Michigan University’s Department of Public Safety has a new home.
In August, the department moved into what used to be the Hoyt Conference Center, next to the Towers.
Members of EMU’s Department of Public Safety work at the dispatch center in their new headquarters.

Prior to the move, the police administration was headquartered in the Bowen Field House, while the officers were stationed in EMU’s parking structure.
“That was a terrible way to operate,” said EMU Police Chief Greg O’Dell. “And I was embarrassed to take people into the building.”
With a new facility comes a more efficient police department, O’Dell said, and having everyone under one roof allows for better communication and workflow.
“We’re hoping students will have much easier access to this building,” he said.
