Higgins lifts Eagles to third consecutive win
Jay Higgins made five 3-pointers today to give Eastern Michigan University a big lead at halftime it wouldn’t relinquish in a 75-58 win over Canisius (N.Y.) College.
EMU (5-2) shot 62 percent, including 54 percent on 3-pointers, in the first half. It never trailed and held Canisius (3-2) to 37 percent on field goals for the game.

Higgins led all scorers with 25, and Brandon Bowdry had 18 and eight rebounds. Carlos Medlock finished with 12 points and eight assists.
Justin Dobbins started after missing Saturday’s game because of an injury. He had two points and three rebounds in 15 minutes.
Greg Logins led Canisius with 18 points and seven rebounds.
The Eagles have won three straight and are 2-0 against Canisius. They travel to play No. 15 Ohio State on Saturday (noon; ESPNU).
