Women lose in MAC quarterfinals
The Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball team lost to the University of Akron, 72-46, in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament Wednesday night in Cleveland, Ohio.
Eastern (22-8) was outscored 34-18 in the second half after being down by ten at the half. Tavelyn James scored 17 points for the Eagles, but was the lone scorer in double figures with the next closest being Sydney Huntley with eight.

Akron (18-12) was led by Kara Murphy’s 19 and four rebounds, to go along with her 9-for-11 shooting from the line.
The men play the Zips (22-9) today at the Quicken Loans Arena. Tip off is at 2 p.m.
