The Eastern Michigan men’s swimming and diving team got another victory under its wing as it defeated the Wayne State Warriors Saturday at Jones Natatorium . The Eagles won with a final score of 143-98.

EMU had many great victories, including wins from Jacob Hanson, Troy Esentan, Michael Swain, Andrew Saunders and Tyler Keelean.

Hanson earned first place in the 200 backstroke, finishing with the sixth fastest time for the event in program history, and won the 200 individual medley.

Swain placed first in the 200 breaststroke and third in the individual medley. Michael Kinross had a first place finish in the 200 butterfly, while Esentan placed first in the 200 breaststroke and fourth in the 200 individual medley.

“I’ve been really focusing on the little things in my races,” Kinross said. “Starts, turns, streamlines off the wall, etc. We need to get the little things down to see improvement in March.”

The Eagles were also strong on the diving boards. EMU captured first place finishes on the one-meter and three-meter boards. Saunders earned 339.30 on the one meter and 345.37 on the three meter, earning him first place in both events. Keelean was the second place finisher in both events, earning 283.20 on the one meter and 299.77 on the three meter.

The Eagles aren’t in action again until 1 p.m. Feb. 4, when they travel to Oxford, Ohio to take on rival Miami. The Eagles look to earn their 60th consecutive Mid-American Conference dual-meet victory.
