Tristan Karez Simmons, an 18-year-old Inkster resident, was arraigned June 6 on charges, of the false report or threat of a bomb or harmful device, for a bomb threat to Eastern Michigan University’s Convocation Center. The previous day, a secretary at Ypsilanti High School had received two separate phone calls from the same person who said a bomb was going to go off at the Convocation Center at 7 p.m. that night.

The location and time given by the caller coincided with Ypsilanti High School’s graduation ceremony. Using phone and school records, investigators were able to identify Simmons as the subject that made the threats and arrested him. Simmons was released on bond pending his next court appearance.
