The future forum, hosted by the Unity Mural Project, triggered a conversation between the audience of roughly 50 students and staff in McKenny Ballroom, March 28. The forum led to audience members suggesting who should be included in the design of the mural based on who has been the most visible presence in the movement towards unity on campus.

EMU Theatre’s production of “Spring Awakening”, opens Friday, March 31. The landmark rock musical, with music by Duncan Sheik and book and lyrics by Steven Sater, explores the quest of teenagers in 19th Century Germany to discover more about the physical and emotional maturity they are undergoing, mostly without help and indeed with some obstruction from the adults in their lives.

Campus Life will be hosting the 2017 Student Gold Medallion Awards on Tuesday, March 28 in the Student Center. This ceremony will be hosted during the week of excellence and features prestigious student awards. Light refreshments begin at 3 p.m. followed by the ceremony at 4 p.m.

A little over three years ago, I penned a column for this fine newspaper about Drake’s impact as a recording artist. At the time, the Toronto, Ontario native was almost by himself reshaping hip-hop culture domestically, as well as abroad. The introduction of his third studio release “Nothing Was the Same,” had just been announced, following the conclusion of the 55th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles back in February 2013. He'd taken home the award for Best Rap Album for the previous year’s “Take Care,” his sophomore magnum opus release and nothing short of a “classic album” in an era that doesn't produce a whole lot of them.
