Poetry Society (PS) hosted the 15th annual poetry event, The Color of Drums (TCOD), in Pease Auditorium, as a part of the campus wide celebration of Martin Luther King Day, Jan.13. The show was composed of multiple skits performed by Poetry Society relating to topics found in today’s society revolving around the theme, "The American Day Dream".

Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus Live! Is an off broadway show inspired by 1992 novel by John Gray, “Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus.” It is a one man show that combines theatre and stand up comedy. The show will be appearing at Detroit, City Theatre, starring Ryan Drumshow mond, an EMU alumni.
The 2017 Winter Fest was held in Eastern Michigan University's student center. The Winter Fest is an event where numerous student organizations gathered to host information tables for students interested in being more involved on campus. "The fest's target audience is mostly the transfer students and people who missed the fajita fest in September," Student Org. and Leadership Assistant, Emily Schwinghamer said.Schwinghamer then explained that the Winter Fest was something fun for students and took a lot of time to plan. The event lasted from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. "We've been working on the Winter Fest for maybe 2 months or so. We put our plans in place all year round for this event each year," said Schwinghamer. More than hundreds of students attended the Winter Fest to collect information on different student groups, socialize, and create hand sculptures out of wax.
On Monday YBBW will be hosting, “Knocking the Boots” from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. in Student Center , Rm 310B. This event is geared towards HIV/AIDS awareness and will offer testing following a presentation by members of YBBW.
Eastern Michigan University (EMU) has scheduled events spanning five days to celebrate and honor Dr. Martin Luther King day. EMU has a history of honoring Dr. King’s legacy, the tradition dates back 31 years to when MLK day became a nationally observed holiday.
