Former EMU basketball coach to be honored at Legacy Day
On Sept. 24, the Eastern Michigan University rowing team competed in a scrimmage against the University of Wisconsin on Lake Mendota in Madison, WI. The Badgers also celebrated the 50th anniversary of the rowing program.
On May 15, the Eastern Michigan University women’s rowing team competed in the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Championships in Pennsauken, NJ on the Cooper River. The Eagles placed third, repeating past CAA placements in 2016 and 2019.
On May 1, the Eastern Michigan University women’s rowing team competed against the University of Dayton on Ford Lake in Ypsilanti, MI. The Eagles collected three wins over the Flyers.
On Apr. 16, the Eastern Michigan University women’s rowing team traveled to Shamokin Dam, PA to race against Patriot League Bucknell University and Villanova University, both members of the Colonial Athletic Association.
On April 2, Eastern Michigan University’s women’s rowing team hosted their Eagles Unite regatta against Michigan State University’s crew on Ford Lake in Ypsilanti, MI. The last time the two squads met was during the fall season at the Head of the Grand regatta in East Lansing, MI on Oct. 16 on Grand River.
The Eastern Michigan Womens' rowing team traveled to the University of Alabama to race against Roll Tide’s No. 15 ranked team on Black Warrior River in Tuscaloosa, AL. on March 5. The trip to Tuscaloosa takes place every spring break with the objective for the EMU rowing team to garner outdoor training to start the spring season.
Not only did the University of Michigan dominate over Iowa 42-3 in the Big Ten Championship, but Eastern Michigan University sophomore Synene Maria Abukaram won $100,000 in tuition scholarships at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Dec. 4.
Over the summer, the Eastern Michigan University’s Women’s Rowing team hired two new coaches, Delaney McGuire and Annie Cantu, in order to assist Head Coach Kemp Savage throughout the 2021-22 season.

The GoFundMe account is up for 30 days with the goal of reaching $10,000 to help aid the team in buying new equipment. In the first day, the team raised more than $1,250. The GoFundMe account has specifically laid out what the donated money will be spent on for the team, ranging from new travel uniforms to a brand new 4+ boat.
