The Poetry Society at Eastern Michigan University also ensures that college is a place where students can speak about things that are important to them. The Poetry Society hosted a Lyric Lounge Feb. 7 on the third floor of the Student Center. It was the fourth one of the year and the first one of the winter semester.

Friday night, International Students Association (ISA) brought many students at Eastern Michigan University together to celebrate the multitude of unique cultures on our campus. The organization created an experience for students to meet new friends from a range of different backgrounds and watch performances from a range of different cultures.

In President Smith’s speech and letter in the Commencement program he commented “that no one reaches this milestone [graduation] alone,” and offered thanks to those who helped the graduates get to Commencement.

University have come forward with plans for an advertisement campaign and actions targeting an outside education firm, Academic Partnerships (AP), from Texas. The purpose of the campaign, spearheaded by union
leaders, is to fight against the University’s decision to partner in a 5-year agreement with AP and begin offering fully online Bachelor’s Degree programs through the firm.

Last week, artistic Eastern students gathered to host “Handmade for the Holidays”. The event was held on Wednesday, December 6, on the first floor of the student center. It was an opportunity for original art to become original gifts this holiday season.

Eastern Michigan University’s School of Music and Dance delivered a full-length ballet recital titled 'Coppélia', accompanied by a noteworthy live orchestral ensemble on Friday Dec 8, at Pease Auditorium. It was nothing short of spectacular.
