01049 -- EMU Echo Editor Endowed Scholarship:  Provides financial support for the current EMU Echo Editor.

02414 -- Scott Stephenson Eastern Echo Scholarship:  This expendable scholarship is for the benefit of student(s) in the School of Communication, Media & Theater Arts in the College of Arts & Sciences.  It will be awarded to a full or part-time junior or senior EMU student majoring in journalism and working for the Eastern Echo.  The student should be working to self-finance their education and not be eligible for need-based grants.

00825 -- Student Media Development:  Provides support for the Student Media program.

Walter Cronkite, a pioneer broadcast journalist was the head anchor for CBS Evening News from its original launch in April 16, 1962 until his last show on the air March 6, 1981. Cronkite became a household name, a true American icon and a lead anchor during his time.

Black Girls Rock Gala: Celebrating EMU’s Black Women

This past week the second annual Black Girls Rock Gala was held in McKenny Hall, Tuesday March 2, 2019. Danisha Grier, a senior double majoring in Women’s Studies and Political Science and founder of the mentoring organization Project Big Sister created this one-of-a-kind event to host and make tribute to women of color on Eastern Michigan’s campus.

A Response to the ‘Best Hall’ Incident

Last Monday, a Black doll was found hanging in a shared shower of a dorm room in Best Hall. After this incident, Black students, including myself, are unsure whether Eastern Michigan University cares about students of color or are just using them as a token to show that they are diverse.

EMU Student Affairs Committee discusses Professional Development, Residence Housing Association

During the Student Affairs Committee meeting, the Board of Regents received presentations Thursday, Feb. 7 from the Student Affairs Professional Development, Diversity and Community Involvement (DCI), and Residence Hall Association (RHA). These brief presentations consisted of an overview and updates that each organization has improved to help better the student community here at Eastern.

Harlem Globetrotters come to Eastern Michigan

Fans of all ages were ecstatic and ready to enjoy the Original Harlem Globetrotters live in action Feb. 1 at the Convocation Center. As the Harlem Globetrotters made Eastern Michigan University one of the stops during their 2019 Fan Powered World Tour, fans made this a night to remember.
