The award-winning piece, Remnants,was performed by Henry “Hank” Greenspan at the Sponberg Theater, March 9. The forty-minute piece included the voices of three men and four women, reflecting on more than forty years of conversation between the playwright and a small group of Holocaust survivors.

Wednesday, March 8, International Women's Day March, from noon until 2 p.m. The march will begin in the Student Center, Rm 300. The march is in response to the call for an international women's strike and everyone is invited to participate as the group travels from the Student Center to Welch Hall.
Students gathered at the Honor’s college to discuss the future unity mural coming to McKenny Hall, March 1. Last year, Eastern Michigan University endured racist graffiti targeting a large population of our student body. The unity mural is a creative, positive response to this bigoted, negative attack.
African Students Association (ASA) hosted the annual event, African Cultural Show, in the Student Center Auditorium, March 2. The show was hosted by Darius Simpson and Constance Chege with sounds by DJ Blakito. The objective of the show is to celebrate Africa’s rise and its rich culture.

On Tuesday Feb 28 an anti-hate self-defense seminar will be hosted from 3:30 - 4:45 p.m in Student Center, Rm 300. Participants will be shown how to empower themselves with martial arts techniques. In addition to learning how to defend against hate crimes: shoves, strikes to the face, and scarf/turban grabbing.
Ann Arbor’s Penny Seats Theatre Company’s most recent production, “Sing Happy!”, had its eighth and final performance at Conor O’Neill’s Irish Restaurant in Ann Arbor. The cabaret was conceived by director Thalia Schramm, producer Lauren M. London and musical director R. MacKenzie Lewis, who teaches musical theatre at EMU, and showcased the work of musical theatre giants John Kander and Fred Ebb, the creators of such landmark musicals as “Chicago” and “Cabaret.”

“The Vagina Monologues,” Eve Ensler’s iconic feminist play, was presented for the 16th year in a row at Eastern Michigan University Feb. 9-11. Ensler was inspired by a collection of thousands of interviews she conducted with women.
“Noises Off!”, playing at Dexter’s Encore Theatre, is farce done right. The 1982 play by British playwright Michael Frayn is the story of a rag-tag theatre troupe struggling to put on a play despite incompetence, love triangles, short tempers, plenty of door-slamming and more.
