The Eastern Michigan Eagles (10-8, 0-5) men’s basketball team fell to the Ohio Bobcats (10-8, 2-3) on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Convocation Center. The Eagles were up 28-21 at halftime but lost 60-58. Noah Morgan had 23 points for EMU, while senior forward Ty Groce added 17 points, five rebounds and three steals.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles took on Ball State on Tuesday, Jan. 14. Ball State is the fourth team in a row that Eastern Michigan has lost to who currently sit with a 0-4 conference record. Head coach Rob Murphy reacted to the loss: “Tonight, when Ball State was open, they knocked it down. When we had opportunities, we didn’t. That’s the bottom line.”

Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball defeated Miami (Ohio) University in a blowout Wednesday, Jan. 15 at the Convocation Center. The win gives the Eagles its third MAC victory and Eastern Michigan now has a 3-1 MAC record. A successful first quarter for the Eagles was the start of the blowout. EMU scored 29 points in the first quarter.

The Eastern Michigan women’s gymnastics team started the season 1-0 with a victory on the road versus Bowling Green State University on Saturday, Jan. 11. The final score was 194.875-193.325 in favor of the Eagles, who were led by Jada Rondeau, Emili Dobronics, Caitlin Satler, Kara Roberts and others.

The Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team fell to Northern Illinois University on the road on Saturday, Jan 11. The Eagles tipped off Mid-American Conference play against Akron on Saturday, Jan 4. With the loss to NIU, EMU has now lost its first three games against fellow MAC teams.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles women's basketball team went into Muncie, Ind. looking for their first 3-0 start against the MAC since the 2006-2007 season. It didn't go as planned as EMU lost 59-54 to the Cardinals at Worthen Arena on Saturday. Areanna Combs had 18 points for the Eagles (7-7, 2-1 MAC) with a season-high in rebounds at 11.

The Eastern Michigan (9-2) men’s basketball team travelled to the Breslin Center to face the No. 15 Michigan State Spartans (9-3) on Saturday, Dec. 21. The Eagles now have a 9-2 record, tied with Kent State at the top of the MAC. The Spartans dominated the game from the tip-off, outscoring the Eagles 41-20 in the first half.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (3-6) defeated the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti. The Eagles were led by Areanna Combs’ 17 points, four blocks, three steals and two assists. Combs shot 53.3 percent from the field in 26 minutes of action.

The Eagles lost 63-52 to Wichita State at Charles Koch Arena on Saturday, Dec. 8. That is four straight losses for EMU, all against non-conference teams. Aaliyah Stanley had the team-high in points at 20 and went 6-for-9 on 3-pointers for EMU (2-6). Areanna Combs scored 11 with three steals and three rebounds.

The Eagles are now at the top of the Mid-American Conference standings with an 8-1 record. Coming off a win against Valparaiso on Tuesday, Dec. 3, the Eagles were looking to push their streak to two straight wins.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (7-1) defeated the Valparaiso Crusaders, 85-79, on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at the Convocation Center. The Eagles were led by Ty Groce’s 23 points, five rebounds and two assists. Noah Morgan added 21 points as well. Javon Freeman had a game-high 28 points and five rebounds for Valparaiso in the loss.

EMU got off to a slow start as they shot just 15.4% percent in the first quarter and weren’t able to recover as they fell 57-38. Natalia Pineda led the Eagles with 16 points and two rebounds.

The Eagles defeated Southeast Missouri State, 69-64, on Tuesday, Nov. 19 in Ypsilanti. EMU was led by freshman guard Aaliyah Stanley’s 24 points, four rebounds and two steals.

The Eagles upset North Texas (1-3) on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the University of North Texas Coliseum behind Ty Groce’s game-high 15 points.
