Football has evolved into a game where celebrations are symbolic, honoring the hard work of athletes with personal sideline props within the football program. Some programs refer to the props as turnover chains. A turnover chain is given to a player that makes an effort leading to a turnover or huge play on defense. Once the player returns to the sideline, his teammates will celebrate their hard work with a personal prop within the program. The symbolic tokens have become a trend across the college football world, as more and more teams have introduced their unique props.

The 2021 NFL Draft was held earlier this month in Cleveland, Ohio and featured some of the most highly touted prospects in recent history. One of those prospects was offensive lineman Penei Sewell, who the Lions selected with their seventh overall pick. This pick, along with many others the Lions used in this draft, has put them in a solid position to rebuild over the next two seasons. I’ve assigned letter grades to each pick, and have provided a quick breakdown of each player the Lions selected in the 2021 NFL Draft.

When I began writing for the Echo about a year ago, one of the first articles I wrote was on why Detroit’s major sports teams are stuck in such a state of mediocrity. I outlined general things they could do to get better again (tanking, upgrading stadiums, competent coaching, etc.) but I didn’t do it specifically for each team. With the Lions’ recent firing of head coach Matt Patricia and GM Bob Quinn, I think they can finally start to take some steps towards success again.

If you’re like me and have a fantasy team that is currently riddled with injuries and unfortunate bye weeks, then you’ve probably already been shopping the waiver wire desperately looking for help. Our leagues might not be the same in terms of who is available, but I’ve gathered a good list of six players that could give your team a boost if you can pick them up off of waivers.

While sitting on my couch watching Michigan’s season opener against Minnesota, I couldn’t help but feel like the team I was watching was much different than years past. Both sides of the ball played with speed and aggression while still keeping their cool under pressure. Joe Milton looked as calm as a 4th year starter, and while the defense wasn’t perfect, they made huge plays when it mattered. I can’t help but to be intrigued with what the rest of the schedule has to offer them, especially with Wisconsin being a big question mark at the moment with their COVID-19 issues.

Among these teams are our beloved Eagles, and although I’m happy to see them return, I am disheartened by their schedule.
