“I think it would be learning another language. I wish I had learned a second language when I was younger, just to know and be able to understand others.”Kayla Tadajewski, sophomore, nursing intent

“I guess social skills, like how to interact with people who are culturally different than you. That would be a good skill because the world is so diverse now and especially on this campus; there’s a lot of diversity. Just learning how to talk to people without being offensive, even if it’s unintentional.”Kaitlyne Rudat, ECA junior, zoology

“For myself, personally, I would want to learn a new skill for oil painting because I’m an artist. It’s something I’ve always loved to do and it would be cool if EMU offered more art classes than it does.”Jerrica Temple, freshman, creative writing

“Playing an instrument, because I think having the ability to learn an instrument is unique and it would be a lot of fun to learn to play. It’s something that I could do for my whole life.”Nathan Zorney, freshman, undecided

“I would probably be “Second Hand Lions” because it’s not a very well known movie, but it has a lot of heart and a lot of soul. The characters are very kooky but very relatable. It’s about this young boy whose mother drops him off for the summer to live with his two crazy uncles who, apparently, have come into millions of dollars. And they had been absent for 40 years; nobody knew where they were. So, it’s his story of coming of age and learning the truth behind where they were all those years. It’s very heart-warming.”Madeleine Collins, freshman, international business

“My favorite movie is “The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”. As a kid I bonded with my mom over it and it’s just always been one of my favorite movies. And just seeing all the ninja stuff as a kid.”Gregory Lee, senior, electronic media and film studies

“My favorite movie would be “Amalie,” which is a French movie that won an Oscar for best foreign film, in 2000 I think. I like it because it doesn’t look like most other movies that are made here. The other reason is it’s just very charming and light-hearted and memorable. I saw it years ago and I still remember it and think about it. I thought it was a good movie that addresses some fundamental things that never really get old.”John Diorio, senior, mathematics

“I don’t really watch that many movies, but I do love the “Harry Potter” series. I grew up with it, so it’s something that has always been familiar with me. I just like the fantasy world. I really like the dystopian societies. Something that’s not really real kind of gets me out of my head.”R.C. Raymond, sophomore, mathematics

“If I had to pick one right now off the top of my head, I’d say “Mrs. Doubtfire”. I really enjoyed that movie. The message, I think, really hits home. Plus, it isn’t one of those goofy adventures where the protagonist is trying to pretend to be someone else and they screw everything up. The guy actually pulls it off for most of the time and you’re rooting for him, because you know why he’s doing it. There’s something heartfelt about the message that movie portrays.”Stephen Moore, senior, simulation, animation and gaming

“Maybe like a Student Day for a nice day off, maybe a celebration for students. Why do we not deserve it? We’re the future of the nation. Why shouldn’t we be honored? There’s a Teacher Day.”Max Klar, junior, marketing

“Maybe something to do with the arts, like National Art Appreciation Day or something of the like. I think, not just on this campus but all over, people don’t think of the arts; make it like dance, theatre, music.” Abigayle Cryderman, senior, dance

“I would probably invent a Gender Neutral Day, because I feel like a lot of people are confused about gender and sexuality. So, I would invent that day to give information about things that are really open to our world outside of the heteronormativity that we have in our society.”Daivon Taylor, junior, women’s and gender studies

“Summer Christmas. There aren’t enough holidays in the summer that are family oriented. There’s July 4. I mean people do get together, but I feel like that’s more independent. We need a family holiday in the summer.”Brendan Oswald, junior, computer programming
