Why I’m Voting for Democratic Candidates on November 6th

(10/30/18 4:00am)

One of the most important midterm elections of our lifetime is only one week away. The results will determine whether President Trump’s agenda can continue to be implemented, or if it will come to a grinding halt. If Democrats take back control of either chamber of Congress the latter will be the case. It is likely the Democrats will use this power to begin investigations of the Trump administration, with the President’s tax returns at the top of the list.

EMU Soccer wins one, loses one, heading into final game of season

(10/26/18 2:27am)

Eastern Michigan’s Women's soccer team split the first two of their three home games to end the season. The team defeated Miami of Ohio in decisive fashion by a final score of 3-0. Unfortunately, it seemed that they maxed out their scoring output for the weekend as they failed to score against Ball State and lost 1-0. The loss to Ball State cuts even deeper as it was the team’s senior night. For seniors like Peyton Davis, Mikayla Cupp, Mia Colavito, and Mackenzie Etienne, this normally would have been their final opportunity to take the pitch at Scicluna Field. However the final game of the season will also be at home, giving the team one more chance to send the seniors out on a high note.

EMU Falls to WMU

(10/26/18 2:21am)

Eastern Michigan Football suffered their fourth straight loss on the season, this time to Western Michigan on October 6th by a final score of 27-24. The loss came following an intense overtime period. All four losses have been by seven points or less. At the halfway mark of the season, EMU sits at a 2-4 record while remaining winless in MAC play.

EMU Loses In Overtime to NIU

(10/26/18 2:19am)

Eastern Michigan football suffers their second straight overtime defeat, this time to Northern Illinois University, dropping them to 0-2 in MAC play. The offense struggled as a whole, going a whole quarter without a first down and delivering an abysmal performance on third down throughout the game. The team converted only three of their 18 attempts on third down but still found themselves in a position to win late. After forcing a turnover in the second overtime period, Chad Ryland missed a game winning field goal that inevitably cost the Eagles the victory.

Women's Soccer Wins Out of Illinois-Chicago

(10/26/18 2:01am)

Eastern Michigan’s women’s soccer team continued their winning ways with a victory over Illinois-Chicago on September 9th, by a final score of 2-1. The win marks the teams 4th on the season and their third win straight. The two teams battled back and forth throughout the first half of the match. It wasn’t until the 35th minute that EMU would break the 0-0 tie with a goal of their own. Kirstin Nason of the Eagles scored on a takeaway in the Illinois-Chicago box that she rocketed into the left side of the net for her second goal on the season.

EMU Defeats Purdue, 20-19

(10/26/18 1:57am)

For the second time in school history Eastern Michigan’s football team defeated a Big Ten opponent when they beat Purdue University 20-19 on September 8th in West Lafayette. Starting quarterback Tyler Wiegers delivered an efficient performance completing 20 of his 28 passing attempts for 312 yards and a touchdown on the way to a victory. Despite Wiegers performance, the hero of the game was kicker Chad Ryland who drilled two field goals, including a game winner as time expired to secure the victory for EMU.
