The Eastern Michigan’s (12-11, 7-5) women’s basketball team defeated the Bowling Green Falcons (8-15, 1-10) on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green. The Eagles were led by Jenna Annecchiarico’s 22 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Areanna Combs added 20 points and 13 rebounds in the victory.
Friday, Feb. 7
The Eastern Michigan men’s basketball team defeated the Western Michigan Broncos on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti. The Eagles have now won three of their last five games, with a 4-8 overall conference record. Western Michigan came into this game with an overall record of 11-13 and a 4-7 record in the MAC.
The Eastern Michigan men’s baseball team began their season with a victory over Austin Peay on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Raymond C. Hand Park in Clarksville, Tenn. The Eagles were led by Taylor Hopkins, who totaled three hits and four runs in five plate appearances, and Luke McGuire, who earned the win after pitching six innings.
A new academic program for a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering was approved by the Board of Regents on Feb. 13.

The initial funding has come from GameAbove, but it’s the Provost’s office that approves and announces the faculty projects. GameAbove is not involved in choosing which projects get funding.

On Wednesday, Feb. 12 EMU’s Alexander Hall held guest pianist, Jerry Wong. The intimate recital gathered many that applauded Wong’s performance.

The EMU Jazz Ensemble played for an audience on Tuesday, Feb. 12 in Pease Auditorium. The ensemble featured compositions and arrangements written by female jazz composers.
The EMU University Advising & Career Development Center hosted an internship fair on Wednesday, Feb. 12, in the Student Center Ballroom to give students an opportunity to browse and engage with organizations hiring for internship positions in an array of fields. In total, 53 organizations were present at the internship fair.
The efficient second half scoring propelled EMU to a road win at McGuirk Arena against the Chippewas men's basketball who were 11-1 at home going into the game. The Eagles shot 55% and outscored CMU by 10 after halftime to win 73-70. Ty Groce scored 22 with 12 rebounds, while Boubacar Toure scored 20 with 13 rebounds.
‘North Star,’ held in EMU’s Sponberg Theater, follows the self-discovering journey and reflection of Relia living in a small town in North Carolina in 1960. The play was performed Feb. 7 to 9 and will be held again Feb. 13 to 16.
Sunday, Jan. 26, will forever be a memorable day in sports history. Former NBA superstar Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gigi, and seven other victims died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas. The vibrations of the tragic event were felt across the globe, including students at Eastern Michigan University.
About a year ago, a new rapper rose to fame after releasing a “country-rap” song titled “Old Town Road,” which featured famous country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. A few months later in June of 2019, this artist, who goes by the name Lil Nas X, debuted his first album “7.”
The Eastern Michigan Eagles (2-3, 1-3) fell to the Northern Illinois Huskies on Friday, Feb. 7, on Senior Night at the Convocation Center. The final score was 196.125-194.375, in favor of the Huskies, despite Jada Rondeau tying her career-high on the vault with a score of 9.850. She also tied her career-best on the beam with a score of 9.875.
