The Eastern Michigan Eagles (9-1) men’s basketball team defeated the Northeastern Huskies (5-6) on Tuesday, December 17 at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti. The Eagles are now a MAC-best 9-1 and are an undefeated 5-0 at home. Noah Morgan led the team with 19 points.

On Friday, Dec. 13, the Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents unanimously voted to increase both the housing and meal plan rates for students at Eastern Michigan University.
Eastern Michigan University held it’s fall 2019 commencement ceremony on Dec. 15, 2019. In total, approximately 2,300 students were eligible to walk, including 1,153 undergraduates and 368 graduate students. Around 800 summer graduates were also eligible to participate in the ceremony.
An Ypsilanti Township man was arrested Friday, Dec. 13 after stabbing a 17-year-old girl after a domestic argument, The Ypsilanti Police Department says.
The Eastern Michigan Eagles (3-6) defeated the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti. The Eagles were led by Areanna Combs’ 17 points, four blocks, three steals and two assists. Combs shot 53.3 percent from the field in 26 minutes of action.

The EMU Board of Regents has approved the construction of a new golf training facility. The facility is 100% funded by the GameAbove alumni group. GameAbove donated a total of $8 million which covers construction as well as operating costs for the next 12 years. This is the third major donation EMU or its surrounding community received from GameAbove.
According to The National Human Trafficking Hotline, there were 383 cases of human trafficking reported in 2018 in the state of Michigan alone. On Wednesday, Nov. 20, the auditorium of EMU’s Student Center slowly filled with EMU women seeking education about human trafficking. With sex trafficking’s prevalence and focus within the media and on social media platforms, two EMU groups came together to spread awareness and educate students.

On Sunday morning, rapper Jarad Anthony Higgins, otherwise known as Juice WRLD, passed away after suffering a seizure. This came as a major saddening shock to fans everywhere, including myself. Juice WRLD was only on the scene for about a year and a half but he accomplished more in that span than some artists do in their entire careers.
The EMU Student Government Business and Finance Committee allocated a total of $3,508 to student organizations and $2,238.58 to club sports during its last meeting for the semester on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
The Eastern Michigan Eagles (6-6, 3-5) will face the Pittsburgh Panthers (7-5, 4-4) in the Quick Lane Bowl on Thursday, Dec. 26 at Ford Field in Detroit.
