Over the course of the past few seasons, the Washington Redskins have faced scrutiny over the mascot of their team. So much so, in fact, that their stadium sponsor, FedEx, has asked them to change their mascot, and Nike has removed all Redskins gear from their website.

It was revealed last month that the NBA developmental league, otherwise known as the G-League, has begun offering six figure salaries to top high school prospects. This gives prospects a new pathway to the NBA instead of the conventional NCAA or overseas route. Unlike the NCAA, this path will only be available to exceptionally special prospects.

Earlier this week, the NFL put out the 2020 schedule for all 32 teams. This is quite exciting, as it could allude to the NFL thinking that they will be able to play in the Fall, COVID-19 or not. There are many primetime matchups to watch out for this season, like Tampa Bay vs. New Orleans and Kansas City vs. Baltimore. However, today I’ll only be talking about the Detroit Lions and predicting their exact win-loss record for the upcoming 2020 season.

In the current state our world is in, it’s easy to start looking for distractions to pass the time and keep you from getting the S.I.P blues. While searching the app store for such a distraction, I came across Stardew Valley — a farming simulator that is much, much more than a farming simulator.

Throughout the past few weeks life as we know it has been drastically changed. Movie theatres, gyms, and restaurants have all been forced to close in one way or another, making life dull and lonely to some during our time in quarantine.

Over the course of the past few days, the world around us has seemed to come to a halt. Almost every major sports league has put an indefinite pause to their seasons, such as the NBA, PGA, and MLB. Even March Madness has been cancelled. While I think these cancellations are just, I don’t think the NBA and NCAA should just throw this season away entirely.

In my time as a student at Eastern Michigan University, I’ve grown to learn that one particular teenager is seen as famous in Ypsilanti. Emoni Bates, the Lincoln High School phenom that has been regarded as one of the best high school players since LeBron James and Zion Williamson, is loved in his city and nationally watched.

If I could sum up the entirety of this past season for EMU’s basketball team in one word, that word would be "inconsistent." Losing games they were favored to win and winning games they weren’t has been the theme of this season. When you play like that, your record probably isn’t going to boast anything special.
