02414 -- Scott Stephenson Eastern Echo Scholarship:  This expendable scholarship is for the benefit of student(s) in the School of Communication, Media & Theater Arts in the College of Arts & Sciences.  It will be awarded to a full or part-time junior or senior EMU student majoring in journalism and working for the Eastern Echo.  The student should be working to self-finance their education and not be eligible for need-based grants.

00825 -- Student Media Development:  Provides support for the Student Media program.

Project Big Sister hosts expo

Eastern Michigan University Student Government hosted a self defense class in the Student Center Ballroom on Jan. 31, from 5-7 p.m. The class was taught by Officer Candace Dorsey, EMU Department of Public Safety.

Women's swim and dive team now 7-0

The EMU women's swim and dive team defeated Wayne State and Tiffin University on Jan. 21, at Jones Natatorium. The tri-dual victory moved the women up to 7-0 . EMU won over Wayne State by 179-85, and beat Tiffin 179-60 as the team placed first in all but one event.

Men swim and dive team pick up victory

The Eastern Michigan University men’s swim and dive team had a very successful tri-dual against Wayne State and Tiffin University Saturday afternoon, Jan. 21, at Jones Natatorium. The Eagles scored 156-100 against Wayne and beat Tiffin University at 169-84.

EMU Winter Fest 2017

The 2017 Winter Fest was held in Eastern Michigan University's student center. The Winter Fest is an event where numerous student organizations gathered to host information tables for students interested in being more involved on campus. "The fest's target audience is mostly the transfer students and people who missed the fajita fest in September," Student Org. and Leadership Assistant, Emily Schwinghamer said.Schwinghamer then explained that the Winter Fest was something fun for students and took a lot of time to plan. The event lasted from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. "We've been working on the Winter Fest for maybe 2 months or so. We put our plans in place all year round for this event each year," said Schwinghamer. More than hundreds of students attended the Winter Fest to collect information on different student groups, socialize, and create hand sculptures out of wax.

Another Eagle named MAC swimmer of the week

Eastern Michigan men's swim and dive team sophomore, Jake Tyson, has been named the Mid-American Conference's Swimmer of the Week. This marks the first time Jake Tyson has received the honor during his swim career at EMU.

Education has really lost its purpose in today's generation. Students no longer value the use or gain of knowledge. Instead they only care of finding ways to receive a passing grade just so they can graduate.

Women's swim and dive team defeats Toledo

Eastern Michigan University’s women’s swimming and diving team defeated University of Toledo 138-110 at home Saturday, Nov. 5. The women now have a dual record of 3-0 on the season and extended their Mid-American Conference dual win streak to eight.

The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team traveled to Athens, Ohio Oct. 29, to Ohio University where itposted their seventh consecutive Mid-American Conference dual win with a strong performance leaving the score 178-122.

​Alpha Kappa Alpha: SKEE-Week

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. branches out to Campus Community with SKEE-Week. The Xi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. launched their SKEE-Week festivities calling it “Pink LEMONADE,” themed after singer Beyoncé’s recent album. SKEE-Week is six days worth of events open to all students at Eastern Michigan University. The purpose of the week is to help people connect with others, and give them the opportunity to see what the AKA ladies are all about.

Which Eagles could become potential NFL draft picks?

Back in April, Eastern Michigan University had its former running back, Darius Jackson, drafted by the Dallas Cowboys. This was the first drafted player from EMU since 2009. But the question is: Who could possibly be the next potential football player to be drafted into the NFL?

Dr. Mae C. Jemison pushes voting registration at EMU

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated Xi Chapter hosted a rally inside Eastern Michigan University's auditorium about registering to vote and voting in the upcoming election. Youth Vote Organization partnered with guest speaker, Dr. Mae C. Jemison, the first African American women to go to space. She encouraged students to volunteer in Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, and also encouraged students to register to vote.

Three Eagles who took on the 2016 Olympic trials

Over the summer, Eastern Michigan University was well represented by some of our best swimmers. Both seniors Alexis Mitcheltree and Cole Bateman, and sophomore Tom Gillis, who were all olympic qualifiers of 2016 and competed against some of the best swimmers across the country during trials.

Alpha Phi Omega sends message of unity

Near the entrance of King Hall, the service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega, made a peaceful call to action through a note (pictured below) and next to the note was a variety of chalk for passing students.
