EMU students having knowledge of deadlines and of the academic resources available on campus can prove to be beneficial because being a successful college student is an ongoing job. The last day to add classes via web is Sep. 13.The drop deadline for when students can still get 100 percent tuition back is Sep. 16. The Holman Success Center is housed in the Halle library, Room G04. The Holman Success Center is made up of several programs geared towards helping students achieve their full potential on campus. In some cases EMU graduate students work one on one to assist, and empower students to stay on course.

Discrimination is alive and well in the world, but not tolerated on Eastern Michigan University's campus. Students and patrons of the campus are encouraged to express themselves freely with out fear of discrimination. Throughout this past year the change in signage of many unisex restrooms to gender neutral restrooms across campus has been one display of EMU’s stance on discrimination.

The Color Run came to Ypsilanti, Michigan on June 25th. The event is a 5k run where participants are showered with colors as they reach different check points in the course. Early Saturday morning participants of the Color Run ran through Eastern Michigan University's campus eventually finishing at Frog Island Park where a color filled concert was held, and several vendors had tents set up. Wave after wave of participants began either walking or jogging the 5 kilometer course in their white shirts. Most participants were anxious to get to the next color station and add to their already color washed attire.

On June 12 49 people were killed, and at least
53 more were recorded injured in one of America’s deadliest mass shootings. The
shooting took place in a LGBTQ nightclub called Pulse early Sunday morning
leaving the world to mourn. But before the gloom could set in the world stood
to support the community having currently raised over 3.5 million dollars from
various organizations, and individuals. Vigils have been put together around
the world to show love and support, and Daniel Freeman continued that support
in the city of Ypsilanti, Michigan.

For the second year in a row Eastern Michigan University hosted a math-off that caters to various charter school students ranging from grades 1st through 8th. The students are quizzed head to head using math flashcards in a series of rounds at the pace of two competitors at a time. Students at each grade level are placed in brackets similar to those used for march madness in college basketball. The top three finalist from each grade are awarded.

Beyoncé is on her “Formation” World Tour. She recently
performed in her hometown of Houston where she was welcomed by a boycott
less than a mile away from her performance. The protest was formed by the
Coalition of Police and Sheriffs.

Eastern Michigan University offers a variety of different courses within its study abroad program. When pursuing the program it is best to start early because it creates the best window of opportunity, but that doesn’t mean it’s too late if you haven’t already started. The study abroad options at EMU are broken down into three categories: winter programs, summer programs and semester or yearlong programs.

From the outside looking in it seems so hard; your palms sweat, your hands shake and you feel nervous. But once you start, once you break the internal tension, it’s easy. Your knees begin to strengthen up and you begin to focus and find your flow. You’re probably thinking I’m talking about the feeling you get before you go on stage before a rap battle, I’m not. I’m talking about the feeling you get when you approach a stranger for the first time.

Snow Health Center hosted another H1N1 vaccination clinic from 3-6 p.m. Tuesday. The event was organized by registered nurses Lori Kilian and Ann Marie.
