Come to the Student Center Kiva Room at 4 p.m. to meet with Eastern Echo editors and Cellar Roots staff members Jess J. Salisbury, Christine “Crass” Deneweth and Matt Rice to learn how to get involved. Food and refreshments will be provided.

Former Eastern Michigan University quarterback, turned wide receiver, Alex Gillett was signed Wednesday by the Green Bay Packers of the NFL. He was added to the team’s practice squad when quarterback Scott Tolzien, formerly of the University of Wisconsin, was activated.

On October 17th, I Am P.I.N.K. hosted a Dine and Donate at the Tower Inn in Ypsilanti. The Dine and Donate was one of the many events that was included during their “Pink Week” from Oct. 13th through the 19th. Twenty percent of all the proceeds from the event went back into the organization for resources that will be needed throughout the year. The event lasted from 5-10 p.m.

Outside of the Alexander Music Building, a lonely W.W. Kimball grand piano somberly enjoys its final day. The instrument will be destroyed during the Piano Smash event today at 5 p.m., where participants can take a swing at it for $1.

On Wednesday, the Detroit Lions announced the signing of former Eagle defensive tackle Jason Jones. In four seasons as an Eagle, he registered 175 total tackles, 13 sacks and one forced fumble. Jones began the 2004 season as a tight end before making the switch to the defensive line.
