Eight games into its 2011 season, the Eastern Michigan University volleyball team garnered its seventh consecutive win as it defeated Youngstown State 3-1 (25-20, 25-16, 18-25, 25-20). This marks the Eagles’ longest win streak since opening the 2010 season with a perfect 8-0 record.

The Eastern Michigan University football team was scheduled to kickoff its 2011 campaign against Howard University at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 3. The players showed up, the coaches were there, the stands were filling up, but as of right now, we still don’t have score. The only person you can thank is Mother Nature.

Mired in a year long slump, Brandon Inge watched the Tigers trade for Royals third baseman Wilson Betemit on Wednesday to serve as his replacement down the stretch. It was a move that was hard to swallow for the longest tenured Tiger, but Inge handled it with the class that made him a fan favorite over the last 11 years in the Motor City.

I commend state Rep. Hugh Crawford, chairman of the House Regulatory Reform Committee for not preceding with a bill that would ban owning a pit bull terrier in Michigan. According to a Detroit News article, state Rep. Tim Bledsoe wanted to enact a law that would make breeding them illegal after one year and owning them illegal after 10. The pit bulls I know are playful and love to lick away. My friends and neighbors should not be made criminals for other irresponsible dog owners.
