Men's golf places eighth in California

Eastern Michigan University’s men’s golf team placed 8-of-11 Tuesday at the Del Walker Intercollegiate Golf Classic in Long Beach, California, Tuesday. The University of California Irvine won the tournament with a total 838 stroke total, followed by Campbell University (847), Sacramento State (851), Long Beach State (851), Denver University (851), University of Denver (851), Wichita State (857), EMU (858), Fresno State (865), University of California Santa Barbara (874), and CSU-Northridge (888). Women's golf places second in Florida

The top seeded Eastern Michigan University women’s golf team placed second in Mid-American Conference match play in Lakewood, Florida, Tuesday. The Eagles beat Bowling Green State University in the semi-finals, but lost to fourth seeded Northern Illinois in the semifinals. Match play is different from stroke play in how scores are compiled and how a winner is determined.

EMU golfer named All-MAC honorable mention

Eastern Michigan University sophomore Brett White was added to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference honorable mention list when the conference announced its men’s golf scholastic honors, June 4. White, who plans on majoring in supply chain management, boasts a 3.49 GPA. This is the first year he has been eligible for the accolade.

Men’s golf takes sixth at Rutherford Invitational

Eastern Michigan University’s men’s golf team smashed their way into a sixth place finish at the Rutherford Invitational in University Park, PA. The Eagles were looking to improve after finishing in last place at the Kepler Intercollegiate tournament last weekend before they head to the MAC Championship in Carmel, Ind. The Eagles shot 881 as a team on the par 71, 7,202-yard Penn State University Blue Course, April 19-20.

Managing Editor, host of Eastern Echo Sports Podcast, names 2013-14 Eagles of the Year

The school year is quickly winding down and with it ends an eventful year for Eastern Michigan University’s athletic teams. As part of my weekly appearances on E-TV’s Eagles Sports Update, I share my “Eagle of the Week” – a player or coach who stands out to me for their performances in the week leading up to the show. For this, the final issue of the school year (not counting the summer semester), I have compiled a list of my Eagles of the Year for all of EMU’s sports, as well as for some specialized categories.

Women’s golf finishes in top 10

The Eastern Michigan University women’s golf team nabbed a top-10 finish at the University of Arkansas Little Rock Golf Classic. The tournament was held in Hot Springs, Ark. over a two-day period, March 24-25.

EMU women’s golf team prepares to play in Texas

The Eastern Michigan University women’s golf team is off to New Braunfels, Texas to compete in the Jim West Challenge at the Bandit Golf Club. Like the men’s team, should weather hold up, the lady Eagles are looking at temperatures from the mid 70’s to low 80’s. The Eagles are geared for the rest of their season.
