Going into its eighth season under head coach, Rob Murphy, the Eastern Michigan men’s basketball team had high optimism for the 2018-19 season. However, the Eagles finished the season with a 15-17 overall record. The team finished third in the MAC West with a 9-9 conference record.
The Eastern Michigan women’s basketball team fought back from a 13-point deficit in the first quarter to win by 10 in the final regular season game of the year. Jenna Annecchiarico led all scorers with 19 points and six assists. The Eagles will stay on the road to play Akron in the first round of the MAC Tournament.
The EMU men’s basketball team earned their 15th victory of the season by defeating Ball State at the Convocation Center on Senior Night. The four seniors combined for 52 points in the 68-61 win. James Thompson IV led the way, scoring 20 points and grabbing 23 rebounds. He also broke the school’s 47-year-old career rebounding record. Paul Jackson and Elijah Minnie also contributed, combining for 30 points.

The Eagles still managed to pick up a win on the road, pushing their record to 9-6 with a final score of 72-60.
The Eastern Michigan women’s basketball team competed in a conference matchup against the University of Buffalo at the Convocation Center on Wednesday. The game resulted in a 91-84 overtime loss for the Eagles. This is the team's second Mid-American loss, which pushes their overall record to 7-6.
