Washtenaw County Prosecutor will no longer charge cases related to marijuana, shrooms, and various psychedelics
On Jan. 12, Washtenaw County Prosecutor Eli Savit announced his team will not charge any cases related to marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, and other psychedelics. Savit will be pushing to expunge old related cases to marijuana and these now recreational substances.

Update: Ypsilanti Township Thanksgiving shooting ruled a suicide and accidental homicide
The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office has made an update regarding the Thanksgiving night shooting at the Aspen Chase apartments. WCSO has the the death of two 22-year-old men a suicide and accidental homicide. The police found one weapon and one discharged round at the scene.
Second shooting in two weeks leaves Ypsilanti Township apartment complex window shot out, car riddled with bullet holes
The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) is currently investigating a shooting at the Aspen Chase apartment complex in Ypsilanti Township. This is the second shooting in two weeks at the apartment complex following an accidental homicide and suicide on Thanksgiving day that left two 22-year-old men dead. Police do not have any suspects at this time. This case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is being asked to contact WCSO at 734-973-7711

Campus Area Crime Map: Ypsilanti Township apartment complex shooting leaves two dead on Thanksgiving night
The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating a shooting that left two men dead at the Aspen Chase Apartments on the 3000 block of International Drive in Ypsilanti Township. No arrests have been made at this time. The case is still being investigated.

Six men arrested in Ypsilanti in relation to plot to kidnap Governor Whitmer
As of Thursday, Oct. 8, 13 men are being charged with terrorism, conspiracy, and weapons in relation to plotting to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Six of the men involved were taken into custody in Ypsilanti. The men involved in the plot have been recognized as members of the militia group called the Wolverine Watchmen.
