Tonight: The Cross St. Chronicles

Hey there EMU students! If the cold temperatures have you down, nothing solves that winter blues than curling up with hot coffee and listening to poetry. On January 14 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Ugly Mug Cafe and Rostery, 317 W. Cross St., Ypsilanti, will be hosting a monthly poetry and variety open mic night. The Cross St. Chronicles will feature spoken word, music and comedy.

P.I.N.K. organization hosted event for Pink Week

On October 17th, I AM P.I.N.K. Hosted a Dine and Donate at the Tower Inn in Ypsilanti. The Dine and Donate was one of the many events that was included during their PINK WEEK which was from Oct. 13th, through the 19th. 20% of all the proceeds from the event went back into the organization for resources that will be needed throughout the year. The event lasted from 5 pm until 10 pm.

Organization facilitates student community service

Even though they don’t always act like it, teenagers are capable of doing many great things for the world. Beneath the surly disposition lies an endless well of passion and energy just bursting to be pointed in the right direction. Gail Wolkoff and her all-inclusive L3C learning/community service organization, Dedicated to Make a Change, is giving teens the GPS they need to do better.

Depot Town Strawberry Showcase

Strawberries could easily be the official snack of summer. Whether you love them smothered in sugar or as part of a tasty pastry, the plump red fruit is a favorite among both the young and the old, whether health-savvy or junk food junkies. And now, on Saturday, June 16th from 11am to 2pm, you can explore Depot Town and sample several strawberry-licious creations courtesy of several businesses in the Ypsilanti community as part of the Depot Town Strawberry Showcase.

'March for Autism' coming to EMU

Autism is a developmental disability that occurs in children as young as three years old. Autism affects children in three crucial areas: social interaction, behavior, and language. This commonly results in children being withdrawn, lacking social skills or having behavioral problems.

Gotye, Kimbra worth all the hype after EMU performance

After months of buzz and anticipation, the long awaited Eastern Michigan University debut of Belgian/Australian indie rock artist Gotye finally landed at Pease Auditorium on March 29. The sold out show, which featured the buzz-worthy up-and-coming pop artist Kimbra, did not disappoint.

Singer Whitney Houston dead at 48

At approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, the Associated Press reported the world-famous pop singer Whitney Houston had died. This was confirmed by Houston’s publicist in a statement to the Associated Press.
