White House outlines plans for gun control

President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden held a press conference at the White House Wednesday to outline the administration’s plan for gun control changes in response to the Dec. 14, 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

Governor Snyder signs Erin’s Law, other bills into law

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder recently signed 30 new bills into law. One of the bills signed was Erin’s Law, sponsored by state Senators John Proos, Rebekah Warren and Judy Emmons, which allows schools to create programs educating children, staff and families on sexual abuse of children.

EMU faculty member death Mark Gallup, 51, a lecturer in Eastern Michigan University’s communication, media and theatre arts program, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday. Gallup is survived by his wife of 23 years, Maria Showich-Gallup.

With the fall semester wrapping up, Student Government is working on several initiatives to improve the student experience at Eastern Michigan University. Student Body President Mathew Norfleet recently gave an update on several programs his administration is developing.
