But in light of the recent movement for a high school in Georgia to desegregate their prom, we are reminded that despite it being the 21st century, discrimination still exists in America. Eastern Michigan University professor and director Wallace Bridges brings forth such issues in performances of “The Wedding Band: A Love/Hate Story in Black and White,” originally written by Alice Childress, this month on campus.
EMU professors will play weekend recitals
Music will be in the air this Friday, and this time it’s an Eastern Michigan University faculty member creating the melody. Professor Joel Schoenhals, an EMU music professor of piano, will be performing part two of Beethoven’s Sonata No. 32 at Pease Auditorium.
EMU to showcase Detroit art scene exhibit
Eastern Michigan University’s Art Department is partnering with Central Michigan and Wayne State universities to present Subverting Modernism: Cass Corridor Revisited 1966-1980. The event features a lecture by Vince Carducci, Envisioning Real Utopias in Detroit, as well as a film screening of “Images” about Cass Corridor artwork.
