On Tuesday Feb 28 an anti-hate self-defense seminar will be hosted from 3:30 - 4:45 p.m in Student Center, Rm 300. Participants will be shown how to empower themselves with martial arts techniques. In addition to learning how to defend against hate crimes: shoves, strikes to the face, and scarf/turban grabbing.
On Wednesday March 1 a forum titled, “What unites us today?” will be hosted in EMU Honors College to discuss the unity mural that will be constructed on campus soon. The forum is from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. (511 W Forest Ave, Ypsilanti)
The Inauguration of President James M. Smith will be hosted on Thursday March 2 in Pease Auditorium. The Inauguration is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. A campus reception will follow at 3:30 p.m. in McKenny Hall, the reception will be followed by the Inaugural Scholarship Dinner at 6:30 p.m. located at the Ann Arbor Marriott. The African Students Association will host it’s third annual Cultural Show on Thursday March 2 from 7 - 10:00 p.m. in the Student Center, Auditorium. The show will celebrate African culture through music, dance, fashion and more.
