The seventh annual Heritage car show is coming to Ypsilanti on August 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event is also a 65th-anniversary celebration for Gene Butman Ford.
“While the Woodward Dream Cruise is a huge widely known event, it can't compare to our Heritage Car Show,” Breanne Aldridge, Internet & Marketing Manager at Gene Butman Ford, said. “The event we host here at Gene Butman Ford is truly such a family event that is near and dear to the local Ypsilanti and Washtenaw County Communities.”
This event features live music by local band The Detroit Drive, many Food trucks with a variety of opttions, a 50/50 raffle, vendors and exhibits.
“The event continues to grow year after year. This year for the event we are lucky enough to have two Ford GTs on display in our showroom for attendees to view. We were fortunate enough to be selected as the delivering dealership for the 2022 GT,” Aldridge said.
The car show will showcase classes from before 1959 to now. Best in show will receive a $500 prize, a trophy, and their vehicle on next years car show poster, tshirt, and advertising.
“We also donate a portion of the proceeds we make from the car show raffles to a local program,” Aldridge said. “This year we are donating that money to a foundation called the Rainbow Rehab center. They are very special to us, as we have a few employees part-time who come from there. It's a great organization that offers so much to the people there.”
In past years, the Heritage car show has had 150 participating cars, expecting to be closer to 200 cars this year. The event has grown in the past seven years because of community involvement, starting with only a small number of participants and now becoming much more than a car show.
There is no fee to attend or participate in this event. If you register before August 12 then you will receive a free goodie bag. To register, visit their website.
