Kali Uchis released “TO FEEL ALIVE,” a four-song EP on Friday, April 24, via Interscope Records. This is Uchis’ first release since her debut album “Isolation,” which came out just over two years ago. She recorded all four songs in her house while self isolating during the coronavirus pandemic. In just over 10 minutes, Uchis walks the listener through an unpredictable romantic relationship, discussing themes such as arguing, drug use, selfishness, and finally, burned bridges.

The Los Angeles Chargers have signed Kevin McGill, a former defensive back at Eastern Michigan who was named to the 2018 All-MAC Second Team and 2019 All-MAC Third Team. McGill was one of the best defensive backs in the MAC during his college career and he will now compete for a spot on the Chargers’ roster.

Steven Nielsen, a former Eastern Michigan offensive tackle has signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars following the 2020 NFL Draft which ended on Saturday, April 25. The 6’8 offensive lineman played in 49 games at Eastern Michigan over the last four seasons and started all 13 games last year. He earned 2018 Third Team All-MAC honors.

Coleon Smith, a 3-star offensive tackle according to ESPN and 247 Sports, has signed with head coach Chris Creighton and the Eastern Michigan Eagles football program. Smith signed with the team on Wednesday, April 15 via Twitter. He previously committed to Indiana on February 5, 2020 before changing his mind in EMU’s favor.

Bryce McBride, a 6-2 point guard out of Jackson, Tennessee, announced his decision to join the Eastern Michigan men’s basketball program on Wednesday, March 28 on Twitter. He attended Dyersburg State Community College last season and was named First Team All-TJCCAA after averaging 24.2 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles women’s basketball team had an up-and-down 2019-20 campaign, which came to an abrupt end due to the coronavirus pandemic, just as they were starting to play to their full potential. The Eagles finished with a 16-15 (9-9) record, including a 9-6 record at home, and a number of outstanding individual and team performances. Looking back, here are Eastern Michigan’s top five moments from this past season.

Damari Parris entered the transfer portal on Thursday, March 19 as he has one year of eligibility remaining. Parris has already transferred once during his college career as he played for Western Kentucky during the 2016-17 season before coming to Eastern Michigan. Parris only played for the Eagles during the 2018-19 campaign.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles football program are looking to reach their third consecutive bowl game next year and their quest will begin on Saturday, Sept. 5 when the Eagles travel to Lexington to face the Kentucky Wildcats. The remainder of the schedule will consist of eight conference games and five home games at Rynearson Stadium.

The Eastern Michigan men’s basketball 2019-20 season came to a close on Monday, March 9 as the Eagles lost in the first round of the MAC Tournament to Kent State 86-76. Now, with all sports being cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, it’s time to look forward to next season and project what the EMU team will look like.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (16-15, 9-9) women’s basketball team had their season end, as all others did, due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The Eagles were competing in the MAC Tournament in Cleveland the day before the tournament was cancelled on Thursday, March 12. EMU was set to play the following day.

The Eastern Michigan men’s track and field team had two meets between Feb. 22-29. The first was the Alex Wilson Invitational on Feb. 22, the second was the two-day MAC Indoor Championship beginning on Feb. 28. The men’s team had high finishes in both events, but all further events in the season have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Childish Gambino mysteriously released an “album” early on Sunday, March 15, via DonaldGloverPresents.com. The project consisted of 12 tracks, including features from Ariana Grande and 21 Savage, with production from DJ Dahi, Ludwig Göransson, and others. One week later, on March 22, Gambino’s album “3.15.20” appeared on digital streaming platforms.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (1-13) men’s baseball team had their season come to an end due to the coronavirus outbreak. The NCAA has cancelled the remainder of winter and spring sports but they announced that all seniors competing in spring sports will have the option to return next season for another year of eligibility.

The NBA announced that they were going to suspend the regular season indefinitely on Wednesday, March 11, after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). According to World-o-Meter, the United States has 1,412 cases of the virus, which has resulted in 40 deaths. There are 133,084 cases worldwide. The NBA’s decision sent a domino effect through the sports world, including the 2020 MAC Tournament in Cleveland.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (3-7, 1-4) gymnastics team lost their most recent match versus Michigan State on Saturday, March 7 in East Lansing. The Spartans came away with a 195.625-194.200 victory, while the Eagles were led by Jada Rondeau, Emili Dobronics, Kara Roberts and Caitlin Satler.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (16-15, 6-12) men’s basketball team lost their final regular season game of the year to the Toledo Rockets (16-15, 8-10) on Friday, March 6 at Savage Arena in Toledo. The Eagles were led by Thomas Binelli, who finished the game with 12 points and three rebounds. Luke Knapke had 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Rockets.

The Eastern Michigan (14-14, 9-8) women’s basketball team wrapped up their regular season and celebrated Senior Night against the Western Michigan Broncos for their last home game of the season on Wednesday, March 4 at the Convocation Center. After the Eagles crushed the Toledo Rockets 64-46 last week, EMU was ready to get back into action against the Broncos, who were only one spot behind EMU in the MAC standings.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles women’s track and field team earned first place at the 2020 MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at Stile Athletics Field House in Akron. The EMU men’s track and field team finished in second place at the same event. The two teams combined to win seven events including both 60-meter hurdle races.
