01049 -- EMU Echo Editor Endowed Scholarship:  Provides financial support for the current EMU Echo Editor.

02414 -- Scott Stephenson Eastern Echo Scholarship:  This expendable scholarship is for the benefit of student(s) in the School of Communication, Media & Theater Arts in the College of Arts & Sciences.  It will be awarded to a full or part-time junior or senior EMU student majoring in journalism and working for the Eastern Echo.  The student should be working to self-finance their education and not be eligible for need-based grants.

00825 -- Student Media Development:  Provides support for the Student Media program.

Black Business Expo at EMU

The Black Student Union at EMU presented the Black Business Expo last Thursday night. This brought successful self-starters and entrepreneurs together to share and network with black business leaders. Sponsors included the Society of Africology, I Am P.I.N.K. and the NAACP.

Gender in 2016 election panel

Eastern Michigan University (EMU) hosted a panel titled “Gender in the 2016 Elections” on Oct.27, 2016. The discussion was sponsored by the Political Science department and Women's and Gender Studies. The list of panelists included special guest Debbie Dingell, EMU provost Rhonda Longworth, as well as faculty members Judith Kullberg, Beth Henschel, Suzanne Gray, Janine Driver.

EMU dining services held grand re-opening in celebration of Chartwells contract

Eastern Michigan University Dining Services held its grand reopening in the Student Center on Thursday, Oct. 13 in commemoration of contracting with Chartwells, a catering service that works with over 280 colleges.

True Life: My Experience With Domestic Violence

In honor of October being Domestic Violence Awareness month Eastern Michigan University (EMU) Women’s Resource Center (WRC) hosted True Life: My Experience With Domestic Violence, an exhibit that displayed poems and artwork contributed by victims of domestic violence and children of survivors of domestic violence. The exhibit also showcased work from people who have committed acts of violence.

Eastern Idol 2016

Davion Reeder, President of Phoenix, a campus based event planning organization. worked with student leaders from organizations such as You Beautiful Black Women (YBBW) and Student Government to put on Eastern Michigan University’s Eastern Idol. The event transformed EMU Student Center ballroom into a night of trap-karaoke Wednesday, Oct. 5.

EMU hosts coffee hour with Senator Warren

EMU hosted a coffee hour with Michigan Senator Rebekah Warren where she discussed current issues with students and community members. Senator Warren discussed the future of energy and other safety concerns in Michigan. She also talked about lighting in covered crosswalks, autonomous cars, and an aging pipeline that supplies oil to much of Michigan.
