02414 -- Scott Stephenson Eastern Echo Scholarship:  This expendable scholarship is for the benefit of student(s) in the School of Communication, Media & Theater Arts in the College of Arts & Sciences.  It will be awarded to a full or part-time junior or senior EMU student majoring in journalism and working for the Eastern Echo.  The student should be working to self-finance their education and not be eligible for need-based grants.

00825 -- Student Media Development:  Provides support for the Student Media program.

EMU hosts 12th annual Digital Marketing Workshop with theme 'hybrid marketing'

EMU receives a first-generation forward designation

Eastern Michigan University has been accepted into the Center for First-Generation Student Success, recently receiving a forward designation from the organization. EMU will be part of the First-Gen Forward Cohort from June 2022 - May 2023.

The Newton of Ypsilanti and Mindo Chocolate have partnered up for a chocolate tasting and a truffle-making class

Mindo Chocolate and The Newton of Ypsilanti are hosting their first chocolate tasting and truffle-making class on Aug 21 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at The Newton of Ypsilanti’s Gathering Place. The tickets are $50 per person, and there is a limit on how many people can attend.

Ypsilanti Town Recreation Department hosting first annual cornhole tournament

The Ypsilanti Town Recreation Department is hosting its first annual cornhole tournament on Aug 27 on 2025 E Clark Road in Ypsilanti. The game will go from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There is a $50 registration fee per team willing to play, and anyone else can attend the tournament to watch at no cost to them.

Ypsilanti District Library introduces ‘non-book items’ that are available for check out

On June 28, the Ypsilanti District Library (YDL) introduced its new collection of items called the ‘Library of Things.’ All the items in the ever-growing collection are available for free check-out with a YDL library card— the same one used for books.

Director of Jewish Studies and English Language and Literature professor, Martin Shichtman, is retiring from Eastern Michigan University after nearly four decades of inspiring students to learn more about Judaism and its history. To celebrate him and all his work, there will be a celebration at the Student Center Ballroom at 6 p.m. on May 24.
